U16 Shield Final 2010
Grange 1-4 Castledermot1-5
This shield final was played at St Laurences in blustery conditions,it also brought lastminute heartache to Grange youngsters.
Having never lead at anystage Castleddermot lads got a goal in injury time to win this game, it prompted scenes of utter devistation simular to
those witnessed at Croke Park last week by kildare players and supporters. The victors are a very strong team and this is little consulation
to a young and skilled team from Grange at the moment who will have a bright future. The club wishes to acknowledge the work and commitment
of Kevin and Pat Costigan along with Danny Mackey too, many thanks to players and management for the commitment and entertainment they provided this year.

Grange X Factor 2009

The brain child of john kissane, this venture turned out to be a very entertaining night for all who attended,, and it discovered some very good talented people in the local area. There were ten acts, each had to perform a song of their choice and rehearse it for a few weeks before performing live on stage in front of three judges and an audience, daunting for some but each act performed brilliantly in their own right. The acts that performed on the night were as follows,
Joanne Cullen / Sylvia Murphy / Sabrina Dooley / Sinead Behan / Olivia English
Johnnie Mannion / Mattie Nolan / Willie Lambe /Mick Behan
David English / Jason Lambe and Kevin Casey
The judges were Mr Jimmy Burn AKA( simon cowell)/ Lorraine Mcmahon ( Danni Minogue)/ Angela o Reilly ( Sherryl Cole).
The acts they in personated were ,, Jonathon Mannion who gave a fantastic version of “Jailhouse rock” by Elvis Presley , Mick Behan gave a brilliant version of “ Mack the knife”, Sylvia Murphy gave the eye popping performance of a number by Amy winehouse, she looked very like her on the night also, next up to perform and here the judge’s comments were two very talented young boys,, Kevin Casey and Jason Lambe,, they didn’t use the karaoke prop but instead opted to plug in live with their acoustic guitars for a brilliant rendition of “canon ball” by Damien Rice, a well deserved deafening applause was heard when they came back down to earth after.
Then veteran Mr. Willie Lambe who is no stranger to singing his heart out in the same venue gave a brilliant performance while trying to dodge some ladies under garments that were been thrown at him Tom Jones style,, he survived this stressful situation much to the delight of the ladies throwing the garments at him.
Ms Joanne Cullen gave her very impressive impression of Dolly Parton, she really looked the part of the country icon on the night, also receiving an ear bursting applause and cheer from her young male followers in the front rows.
Then the “man in black “ himself got on stage to tell us about the “Folsom prison blues” in the form of the ever so cool David English, yes! For one night we thought the one and only Johnny Cash had returned from the grave had we not known better.
Sabrina Dooley then decided her sexy boots were made for walking on a performance that had our Simon Cowell on the night calling for extra ice cubes to cool down with his beverage, Sabrina pulled out all the stops convincing the crowd that Nancy Sinatra had grace the stage.
The Un-nerved Mattie Nolan was on duty to give his version of “the green grass of home” by tom Jones,, Mattie , no stranger to the mic either gave a great performance ,, much to the delight of the ladies again,, Mattie seemed to even had replicated the Tom Jones style ridiculously hairy chest,, the wonder of miracle grow !.
And last but certainly not least came the act people were talking about all night,, and they certainly didn’t disappoint, the return of super Group ABBA nearly took the roof off the building and our Simon cowell off his chair,, totally deserving winners of the show with their version of “MAMA MIA”, the group comprising of Mick and Sinead Behan,, and David and Olivia English. The judges had a difficult time trying to find the winner of Grange X Factor 2009, but they did in the end.
A thoroughly enjoyable night was had by all, and already people are asking and awaiting for the next Grange X Factor, and hopefully sooner than later, watch this space!!
DVD of the night will be on sale soon, contact MR John Kissane for further details.
Proceeds will go towards developing the Club..
